A few hours ago, a Tulsa, Oklahoma jury found Officer Betty Shelby not guilty of first degree manslaughter in the shooting death of Terence Crutcher. Forty-year old Crutcher was unarmed when he was killed during a police pursuit in which Officer Shelby fatally shot the deceased. The issue of whether Shelby reasonably believed it was necessary to use deadly force was one of critical importance to the trial. Protesters were ready outside the courtroom minutes after the verdict was read. Opponents are already speaking out in other mediums against the perceived injustice of the shooting verdict.
